Dallas, TX (April 24, 2016) – The University of Oklahoma curling team finished as the Dallas Event Co-Campions at the Fourth Annual Steers 'n Beers Bonspiel hosted by the Dallas/Ft. Worth Curling Club. After two hard fought games against teams from Dallas and Houston, the Sooners landed in the Dallas Event bracket. The Dallas Event was a ‘points’ event, which featured six teams. One point was awarded for each end scored, 0.25 points for each point scored, and five points for wining. The Sooners received the number one seed in the bracket by drawing closest to the button. The Sooners tied with Team Nazar (Dallas) with twelve total points and were named Co-Champions.
Overall, twenty teams competed in the tournament. The Sooner team was one of two non-Texas teams, and the only team from the Oklahoma Curling Club. The team was skipped by Jeff Milne with Casey Cascio, Andrew Mahre, and Alex Plotkin as the Vice, Second, and Lead, respectively.
